Catholic Education Fund (CEF)
St. Sebastian School is aided by the Catholic Education Foundation. The Catholic Education Foundation was established in 1987 to ensure that underserved children in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles would have access to a Catholic school education. Catholic elementary and high schools offer the best opportunity for children living in poverty to succeed in life. Yet with an average household income of $24,000, thousands of families cannot afford the tuition payments.
CEF provides tuition assistance to the poorest children living in Los Angeles’ poorest neighborhoods and by doing so has an impact on the entire community. Since 1987, CEF has issued over 110,000 tuition awards and over $108 million. The success of CEF programs is outlined in a Loyola Marymount University study which reports a 98% high school graduation rate and a 98% college attendance rate for CEF students.
The CEF's TAP (Tuition Awards Program) provides $1,000 in assistance to elementary school students and $1,500 to high school students. Parents of scholarship recipients must meet criteria at or below the Federal guidelines for poverty. Children are accepted into TAP regardless of ethnic or religious background. Applications are available in the office and are due by March 31st in order to be considered for this award.
