Dear St. Sebastian Families,
Sunday I will be going to “The Bilinguel Education Fair” at UCLA. There will be workshops and an opportunity for families to find out more about St. Sebastian School. The workshop and school showcase will run from 9am- 5pm. All are welcome! Last week the archdiocese met with the Fr. German, the church staff, Sr. Rosa, Sr. Anne Ms. Sabol and myself. The agenda was on Virtus and our safety program for the children. If you have not completed your Virtus certification there will be two offerings coming up in May. Please understand that in order for the St. Sebastian Church/School community to be in compliance, all school employees and volunteers must have this certification. This is a requirement for all Catholic Schools and Churches. Parent volunteers that do not have their certification will not be permitted to chaperone or volunteer on campus when children are in school. Dates for Virtus training are: Thursday, May 21st in Spanish, and Saturday, May 30th in English. Your understanding and support is greatly appreciated. Ms. Weiss “My Mom Rocks” mother son night will be filled with games, contests, and fun! The first 25 people to purchase tickets will get a "Backstage Pass" which includes a free 4x6 picture of mother and son! Order forms are in the front office. Come share a fun night with your son as an early Mother's Day gift!” CEF application update: Thank you to all families that applied for a grant through CEF. Appointments have been made for qualifying families on May 4th. If you have been given an appointment, please give yourself plenty of time to get to St. Monica High School. There are a number of different road closures in the Santa Monica area and local traffic can be unpredictable. Please note, all families looking to receive any reduction in tuition, are required to apply for CEF and process income information through FACTS. Mr. Higdon and I will be scheduling meetings with families in the coming weeks, to sign agreements for the next school year. Tweet from Pope Francis “The love of Christ fills our hearts and makes us always able to forgive!” Volunteer Thank you! Thank you volunteer families for all that you do everyday for the school. If you have not completed your service hours, please check in with the front for ideas on how to complete them. There are still many opportunities available at the school. God bless and have a safe and happy weekend! Ms. McDugald
