First Week of School Updates

​Dear Wonderful Saint Sebastian Families,

Thank you so much for choosing Saint Sebastian as the school for your child. Day one was a complete success! Students and teachers are already establishing a strong foundation for what promises to be a wonderful school year. 

I wanted to inform you of some updates as we continue our first week of school:

Pickup:

In order to make sure all children are safe and going home with the correct adult, if your child is in TK-8th, please pick up your son/daughter outside at the south side Wyoming gate. 
*Preschool parents must sign students out and pick them up inside their classroom.


Parents utilizing afternoon valet, please wait in your vehicle out of respect for other parents waiting to pick up their child. We will call your child, walk them to your car, and help them get buckled in. Parents who are not utilizing valet (morning or afternoon) please do not park on Wyoming.


Aftercare: Some after school clubs and volleyball will begin next week, a list of clubs will be sent out when they are confirmed.
Academic Decathlon - Sign ups happened last year and the first meeting will be this Friday
Philanthropy - TBD
Chess - sign up outside Ms. Soppe’s room and pick up permission slip (1st-8th)
Knitting - TBD
Choir - Wednesday, 3:15-4pm (K-8th)
Spanish/Latin Dance - Tuesday, 3:15-4pm (2nd-8th)
Mandarin - TBD in order to join this club you must pay a fee, more info to come.
STEM - Tuesday, 3:15-4pm (4th-8th)

Newspaper - TBD
Yearbook - Meets in January
Sports - See volleyball sign ups outside Mr. Suk’s room

Uniforms: We realize that Dennis School Uniforms seems to be behind on their orders so we are granting all students a grace period through the month of September. Starting October 2nd all students need to be in their correct uniform every day.
Monday and Wednesday are physical education days and students TK-8th wear their P.E. uniform (T-shirt, sports shorts, and mostly black or blue shoes).
Tuesday and Thursday (Grey/Maroon polo, pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, jumper)
Friday K-8th students wear their church uniform (White oxford shirt, tie, vest/sweater, skirt/jumper/pants, black shoes, black belt).

The aftercare teachers, are Sra. Martner and Ms. Kelsey. 
At 3:15 pm teachers pick up students that go to aftercare from each classroom teacher.
Aftercare will run as follows for TK-2nd:
3:15-4:00 Snack and recess outside
4:00-5:00 Homework in room 1st Spanish room (TK-K play indoor) and Center Rotations
5:00-6:00 Buddy time in 5th/6th grade room (TK-2nd buddies up with 3rd-8th reading/crafts)
Aftercare will run as follows for 3rd-8th:
3:15-4:00 Homework/silent reading  in room 5th/6th grade room
4:00-5:00 Snack and recess outside
5:00-6:00 Buddy time in the 5th/6th grade room (TK-2nd buddies up with 3rd-8th for reading and crafts)

On Thursdays students will be released at 1pm. Please plan accordingly. Aftercare will run from 1 until 6 pm. 
Our first all school Mass is Fri., Sep. 1st at 8 am. Please arrive at 7:45 am so that students have time to put backpacks away and arrive to Mass on time. Don’t forget your church uniform. Parents are welcome to join us.

Estimadas fabulosas familias de San Sebastián,

Gracias por escoger a San Sebastián como la escuela para su hijo. El primer día de escuela fue un éxito total. Los estudiantes y maestros ya están estableciendo una buena base para lo que promete ser un año escolar estupendo.
 
Al continuar nuestra primer semana de escuela quería informarles de algunos anuncios:

Despedida:

Para asegurarnos que todos los niños están seguros  y que todos se van a la casa con la persona correcta, si su hijo está en a TK-8th, favor de recoger a su hijo afuera en el portón del en la calle Wyoming. 
*Padres de preescolar deben entrar a la escuela a recoger a su nino del salon.


Padres que utilizaran el servicio de valet en la tarde, favor de esperar en su vehículo para respetar el tiempo de aquellos que también están en la fila esperando recoger a su hijo. Nosotros llamaremos el nombre de su hijo, lo encaminamos al carro, y les ayudaremos con su cinturón.  


Cuidado después de escuela: Los clubes y el volleyball empezará la próxima semana.
Academic Decathlon - Las inscripciones ocurrieron el año escolar ante pasado, y la primer reunión es este viernes.
Filantropía- Se anunciará después
Ajedrez- inscríbase afuera del salón de Ms. Soppe’s y recoja su hoja de permiso (1st-8th), 
Tejer- Se anunciará después
Coro- inscríbase con la maestra Littleworth para el club los miercoles 3:15-4pm 
Español/Baile Latino- inscríbase con la maestra Gavina para el club los martes 3:15-4pm (2-8)
Mandarín -Se anunciará después, para unirse a este club tiene que pagar
STEM - inscríbase con la maestra Rodríguez para el club los martes 3:15-4pm (4-8)
Gobierno estudiantil- vea al Sr. Bias para más información
Periódico- Se anunciará después
Libro anual- Se reúne en enero
Deportes- Vea las hojas de registración para inscribirse en volleyball afuera del salón del Sr. Suk


Uniformes: Sabemos que Dennis School Uniforms están atrasados con sus pedidos así que les daremos un mes para obtener el uniforme correcto. Empezando el 2 de octubre, todos los estudiantes deben usar el uniforme correcto todos los días.  
Lunes y miércoles son días de educación física y los estudiantes en TK-8th deben usar su uniformes de P.E. (camisa, shorts deportivos, y zapatos mayormente negros o azul marino).
Martes y jueves uniforme regular  (polo gris/marrón, pantalones, shorts, falda, faldashort, jumper)
Viernes estudiantes de K-8th usan su uniforme de misa (camisa blanca, corbata, sweater/chaleco, falda/jumper/pantalones, zapatos negros/azul marinos, cinto negro).

Las maestras de aftercare, son Sra. Martner y Ms. Kelsey. 
A las 3:15 pm las maestras recogen a los estudiantes que van al programa de después de escuela. 
El horario para TK-2 es:
3:15-4:00 Merienda y recreo afuera
4:00-5:00 Tarea en el salón de 1 (TK-K juegan adentro) y rotación de centros 
5:00-6:00 Tiempo con un amigo de 3-8 en el salón de 5th/6th para leer y hacer manualidades 
Horario para 3-8:
3:15-4:00 Tarea/lectura silenciosa en el salón de 5/6 
4:00-5:00 Merienda y recreo afuera 
5:00-6:00 Tiempo con un amigo de 3-8 en el salón de 5th/6th para leer y hacer manualidades 

Los jueves los estudiantes serán despedidos a la 1 pm. Favor de hacer arreglos para recoger a su hijo/a a tiempo. Cuidado después de escuela será de 1-6pm  

 Nuestra primer misa escolar será el viernes, el 1 de septiembre a las 8 am. Favor de llegar a las 7:45 am para que los niños tengan tiempo de guardar su mochila y llegar a misa a tiempo. No olviden su uniforme de misa. Padres de familia están bienvenidos a asistir a la misa con nosotros.
