Dear Parents of St. Sebastian School,
I hope you and your family have enjoyed some much needed rest and relaxation. The teachers and I have been working hard cleaning the school and planning for what promises to be an amazing 2016-2017 school year! We’ve spent two full weeks planning engaging units of study with colleagues from across the Archdiocese of Los Angeles . I am delighted to be sharing with you some exciting information regarding summer reading lists, school supplies, updates to our school calendar and staff updates. Summer reading lists as well as school supplies are unique to each specific grade level please refer to the grade that your child will be attending next school year for the correct list. These will be sent in a separate email. In an effort to improve the quality of our teacher professional learning community, we as a faculty, have decided that our time spent together would be more effective on Thursday. This means that students will now be dismissed at 1:00 P.M. on Thursdays. On Fridays, students will be dismissed at 3:00 P.M. We appreciate your understanding and support of our continued learning. Our St. Sebastian Family is Growing! This year we will be welcoming a new teacher to our St. Sebastian Family and inviting current teachers to take new roles. ● Ms. Littleworth, who was with us part time will be joining us full time as our art, music, choir, P.E. teacher, and all school mass cantor. ● Ms. Rodriguez, will be joining us as the full time TK self contained classroom teacher. ● Ms. Gaviña, will teach K and 1st Spanish ● Mrs. Mariano, will teach K and 1st English ● Mr. Suk, will teach 2nd grade ● Ms. Knox, will be teaching closer to her home in the valley and although we will miss her, we wish her the all best at her new school Communications Update As our school community grows we are constantly looking for ways to improve ourcommunication. Thanks to a generous donation made by an anonymous donor, this year the school will be using the learning management system named Engrade to communicate grades, hold assessment records, track attendance, build lesson plans, and units. We will also use Remind for mass communicate via email and/or text. Be on the lookout for an invitation tojoin/login soon! If you are brand new to our school or are joining us from preschool, our school uniforms are purchased through Dennis School Uniforms, you can order online on their website http://www.dennisuniform.com/# by entering our school code which is LA00SS or you can purchase them in person on Aug. 19th at school from 5:308 pm.
