MRs. Karisa Avalos (PRINCIPAL)

Dear Saint Sebastian School and Parish Community,

My name is Karisa Avalos and it is with deep gratitude that I introduce myself as your new principal for the upcoming school year. I am currently an Academic Excellence Specialist for the Department of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Prior to that, I was a teacher for eleven years in a variety of grades and roles. After the last four years supporting principals and their faculties in the area of academic excellence, as well as completing my master’s degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Notre Dame, it has been made clear to me that God has been gently preparing me for the role of principal.

During my process of discernment over the last few weeks, I asked many members of the Saint Sebastian School community, “What do you love about Saint Sebastian School?” Everyone has shared, in their own way, that Saint Sebastian School is a warm community that celebrates diversity and knows each person by name. What a gift this community is! I am blessed to join the Saint Sebastian School and Parish community in the ministry of forming the hearts and minds of our students so they can confidently go out into the world to love and serve others within God’s calling for them.

In thinking of our journey ahead together, I am reminded of the Sacred Scripture from Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope.” During these uncertain and unique times, I am hopeful for the plans God has in store for each of us and our community as a whole.  With God’s grace and each other, our children will continue to thrive in their intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development.

Saint Sebastian School and Parish are in my thoughts and prayers as the school year concludes. I kindly ask for your prayers as I begin my journey with you. ¡Siempre adelante!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Karisa Avalos »

¡Siempre adelante!

Atentamente,
Sra. Karisa Avalos”
