MR. Alfonso Pizano (1st/2nd English)

Mr. Alfonso Pizano, a product of Catholic school education, will be the 2nd-grade homeroom teacher teaching English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Religion to the 1st and 2nd grade. Mr. Pizano is an experienced Catholic school teacher who was discerning a priestly vocation with the Jesuits and began his teaching career at St. Thomas Aquinas School in Monterey Park. As a Jesuit Scholastic, he worked at Dolores Mission School in Boyle Heights, Ciudad de los Niños in Guadalajara, and Mission Dolores Academy in San Francisco. He holds a BA in English from Mount St. Mary’s University and an MA in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University. Most recently, he studied for an MA in Philosophy from Fordham University in New York, where he also ministered as chaplain to Bronx Gardens Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and wrote for articles for The Jesuit Post.

Mr. Pizano says: “I’m looking forward to a productive school year. I am excited about the opportunity to get to know students, faculty, staff, and parents as we work together to shape students who are faithful, intelligent, and actively involved in the world around them for the service of God and neighbor."
