November Preschool E-Letter

11/1/2016

Dear St. Sebastian Preschool Families,

Thank you so much for your support in our school’s Hop-a-thon! The money made will go a long way.

Monday was such a fun day! Our annual parade around the school and experimenting with Professor Egghead was a great treat for preschoolers.  I hope you had fun too. Everyone looked so cute parading in their Halloween costumes.  Thank you to all of the parents, families, and volunteers who helped! Thank you especially to our room parents for all of your organization! Our students had an incredible time!

November is here and we can start to feel the cool breeze. As the weather changes, please make sure to check your child’s cubby for warm clothing and a jacket.
Also, to keep us all healthy during the cold season, please help promote these healthy habits by consciously modeling behaviors such as washing hands, sneezing/coughing into your elbow in front of your preschooler. This will encourage them to imitate you later on.
St. Sebastian School Lunch Program
St. Sebastian School is now offering a lunch program for preschoolers. Lunches are ordered monthly and prices of the lunch are $3.00 a day. Application for FREE or REDUCED ($0.40/day) lunches are also available, so please come and take advantage of this wonderful program and fill out an application to see if you qualify.  For more information about the lunch program please go to http://www.better4youmeals.com/.  If you have any question, please do not hesitate to ask Ms. Zuniga, our wonderful food coordinator.

Thanksgiving lunch potluck
Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year. It is a time for turkey, friends, and family but most importantly it is a time for giving thanks!  What is your preschooler thankful for?
Preschoolers would like to invite friends and families to their Thanksgiving lunch potluck on Tuesday, November 22nd, so please join us if you can. Lunch will begin at 11:45 and end at 12:30p.m. For those who would like to bring something, such as juice boxes, green beans, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie to list a few that your child likes to eat/drink and share with the class, we would appreciate it, but it is not mandatory. A Thanksgiving potluck signup sheet will be posted by our sign in/out book for parents who choose to participate. Also, please let us know if you plan on attending so that we can make sure there is enough food to go around.

Book Fair

Scholastic is making a visit to our school! This is a great opportunity to introduce our preschoolers to many great books.  To help get them get excited, we will be making a visit to the book fair. If you have a love for books and would love to come and choose your favorite story to read to our preschoolers at the book fair, please let us know. If you would like to purchase books for our class, a list will be posted. We are so grateful and we thank you so much for your continued support.

A Santa for Christmas

If you are and would like to be Santa this year please email me or our room parents. This would be a nice treat for preschoolers to see Santa after their Christmas Performance (TBA). Thanks to Robert’s family we already have a Santa suit and just need to find a perfect Santa to introduce to the students.

Bunny and Lion Blurb:

Dear Bunny and Lion Parents,

October was such a busy month filled with lots of fun and exciting activities. The children especially enjoyed showing off their wonderful costumes and the annual visit from Professor Egghead! We will now welcome the first week of November discussing “Dia de Los Muertos” (Day of the dead). November also brings many thoughts of gratitude and appreciation; we cannot wait to hear what all our preschoolers are thankful for. Our themes for this month will include friendship, turkeys and thanksgiving. Also for the last week of November our school will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair and for this week our activities will focus on the book “If you give a mouse a pancake”. We will also continue to work on our numbers 1-10 in both English and Spanish. Our alphabet language development will include letters G, H, I, J and K.

Sincerely,
Ms. Jazmin and Monica
